Thank you for your interest in donating to Urban Sketchers!Urban Sketchers is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization that relies on individuals to donate time or money in order to help achieve our mission:
To raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of on-location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel.
The money we raise is spent on board-approved programs and projects that grow our educational mandate.
How is the money used?
USk SymposiumUSk organizes an annual international symposium where sketchers have access to workshops taught by the top urban sketchers in the world. In 2015, 393 sketchers from 35 countries gathered in Singapore to attend workshops taught by 23 teachers. In addition, 19 presenters offered activities , demos and lectures for which they received a small honorarium. While all the teachers volunteered their time, their travel and hotel expenses were paid. Other costs included room rental, printed materials, catering, insurance, technician fees, and registration fees.
Symposium ScholarshipsIn 2015 USk granted scholarships to 10 local sketchers who attended the Singapore symposium at no charge! Scholarship winners were nominated by their lecturers, professors, teachers, or mentors, and selected by the Singapore Symposium Committee based on their demonstrated interest in sketching, their CVs, portfolios, and letter of motivation. We’d like to do this again so that more people will have the opportunity to attend the symposium in 2016.
USk WorkshopsIn 2015 USk organized 14 outstanding workshops around the world. Two hundred sixty sketchers participated in workshops about setting a point of view, sketching people in action, creating atmosphere, and more from Naples to Miami to San José, Costa Rica to Segovia! Our goal is to make urban sketching workshops accessible to as many people as possible. With your help we’d like to expand this program.
Operational Fund ExpensesWhile USk is a volunteer run organization, there are still costs involved such as website fees, email newsletter fees, banking fees, printing costs, postage and mailbox rental, professional fees, insurance etc.
