[by
Javier de Blas in Abrantes, Portugal] Abrantes Council has a beautiful
project: Every year they are inviting both a writter and a sketcher to
make a record the city. One year later, a book with both creators works
is edited within a collection called “Cadernos de Viagem de Abrantes”.
The project was started with the first sketchbook made by Eduardo
Salavisa in 2015. After this they concived the idea of including a
writter´s work in each new project, calling each book of the collection,
“Abrantes. O caderno de…” And then, the names of both, the sketcher
and the writter.I was very grateful to work for number one in the collection.
So,
now every year Abrantes Council calls for a sketchers meeting to draw
around the city during te morning, then we have a communal lunch and, in
the afternoon, the new book is presented and the new invited give a
lecture as a way to introduce themselves.
After joining some of the comming sketchers to draw at the castle, (see my last post, Back in Abrantes. Meeting again) I made some speedportraits during the lunch, as well as during the afternoon lectures.
At
night I went with a friend to have a light homemade dinner at the
“Tasquinha do Cachucho” where I had a nice memory from last year (see
post Sketching Abrantes. The village of Pego). I was very happy to dedicate one book to the owner and another to one of the locals that I portrayed last year.
