Summer has arrived a month late this year. Again. It's the new normal down in this part of the world. We're not complaining, we just need to get used to it. Now that it has finally arrived it's been fun to get to some sand in the sketchbook and sunblock in the water colour again.
Here are a couple from Waipu Cove, about an hour and a half drive north of Auckland. Capturing swimmers and surfers in action must be one of my favourite things – in between paddling and swimming with the kids that is.
I had to draw that Suzuki quad bike (again) — what a beast! They sit three abreast and really all I want is for them to flick me the keys for a blat up the beach. The surf patrol have two of them now to bring the IRB (inflatable rescue boat) in and out of the surf and to patrol the beach further up the coast.
