Walter Battiss, one of South Africa's star artists is on exhibition at the Wits Art Gallery (I remember him causing a stir when he visited our art school campus in the 70's!). Our group went along on a Saturday morning to sketch the viewers, and were happy to find that a children's printmaking workshop was on at the same time in the cafeteria when we stopped in there for coffee.
It was of course a flurry of movement with children, museum staff and parents milling in bunches around the tables, and a tall photographer doing double duty hanging up prints to dry. Excited rollering and pressing and (lots of!)ink being squeezed, squeals and dashing about - then suddenly it was all over - and so quiet.
