Few weeks ago we received a box with luxury watercolor paper by Hahnemuehle who kindly sponsors our next September workshop in Tuscany. I went to Volterra for a survey and I could test the paper with my friend Majid Modir. We had choosen two kind of 100% cotton, 300 gms, 40x30 cm. watercolor blocks: Turner and Cézanne.
We went around Volterra's hills looking for some Staccioli sculptures, one of our workshop theme. Majid seems to prefer Cézanne paper, that has a rough texture. These below are his first tests, finished at home as it was really too hot to paint on the spot - I'm sure in September temperature will be much more pleasant!
I tried Turner paper with a smooth surface and liked it a lot. Here below are the hills nearby villa Le Guadalupe, our workshop hosting place. The dried fields looked almost as desert dunes, beautiful especially at sunset.
