[By Tina Koyama in Seattle] Following a few posts behind Murray Dewhurst, here’s my tribute to Florian Afflerbach that I made for his memorial sketch wall in Manchester.
I have a few sketches of classic cars that I made at a local auto show, but I was hoping to do a new one in Flaf’s well-known fisheye style. I wasn’t sure if I’d see a vintage vehicle in time for the symposium, but somehow the right thing always seems to turn up. Sure enough, this morning I met with Urban Sketchers Seattle at the Stonehouse Café, and the owner’s beautifully restored ’53 Chevy truck was parked in front. A tip of my hat goes to Lapin (see bumper), who has made a handy PDF of tips for this sketching style.
