[By Lis Watkins in London] It was great to spend a long weekend sketching in Brighton recently on an USK 'Pushing Your Boundaries' workshop, run as part of the Brighton Fringe. The focus was on sketching people and as the Festival was in full swing, there were lots of interesting characters to draw. Instructors Isabel Carmona, Rolf Schroeter and Swasky each led two sessions and it was fascinating to hear their different approaches to drawing as well as having the privilege of looking through their sketchbooks.
The two drawings here were made on the sketchcrawl between the piers, after the workshop, when I tried to put into practice some of the things we learnt, although sitting by the side of the basketball court wasn't such a good idea as at one point I got smacked in the head by the ball!
It was a lovely few days, with lots of tips and techniques to help tackle drawing people.
