These days the imposing mountain scar located in Hiddenite, North Carolina, is part of a public recreational area popular among rock climbers. The park also includes several hiking trails with great panoramic views of rural landscape.
My family and I enjoyed the visit during a beautiful spring day of clear skies and perfect 70-degree temperatures. We are no rock climbers, so we hit the trails to get to the top. The unobstructed view of the fields and rolling hills was so relaxing that it made it hard to leave. Just as hard as it will be to finish this much needed spring break vacation.
