[By Liz Ackerley] Continuing with the countdown to the USk International Symposium here in Manchester, this is week 3 (14 weeks until the start of the symposium-yeah hah! ) of my City Centre Manchester sketches, of the places and streets that all of us will get closely associated with! Here is this week's sketch: #TheNorthernQuarter. This is one of my favourite areas of town; quirky and arty (There are two art shops in this area: Blythes and Fred Aldous, both a few minutes walk from where I've done this sketch) together with lots of other independent stores, cafes and bars. I've chosen this vantage point for two reasons, first it shows the funky nature of the streets in this area: the old buildings combined with the quirky arty structures and colours; secondly it is a busy street leading from Market street at the city centre end of Tib street up to Great Ancoats Street.
I think that this now makes me up to date with the Countdown postings so expect to get one more from me this week: week 4. Subsequent postings will be one per week leading all the way to the symposium!
