The Symposium is USk’s annual educational and networking event. It is the physical embodiment of our mission to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of on-location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. Each year a different city (and continent!) becomes a confluence for drawing enthusiasts from around the world. Participants have the opportunity to sketch throughout the host cities as they learn about techniques, principles and concepts of drawing on location. Workshops are led by architects, illustrators, artists, and educators; lectures, panels, demos, and sketchcrawls round out the program.
Manchester is a vibrant, culturally cosmopolitan city with a rich historical context, industrial heritage and walkable city-scale, offering an ideal symposium location. The Manchester School of Art is the main Symposium venue.
