I drove north across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco into Marin County last week. However many times I drive across that bridge, it is always an incredible experience. So I couldn't help turning out at the first exit off the bridge- a vista point that looks back across the bay at the bridge and San Francisco. Perhaps I was early? It was unusually serene at Vista Point when I did this first sketch. Which might be why I ended up with what is a pretty quiet sketch for me.
But the peace and quiet didn't last very long. The first, second and third busload of tourists arrived just as I was done with that first sketch. So I just had to do a second piece.
I love that about urban sketching: it's all about a personal response to where you are at that moment. And a place can change so much in no time at all.
