Paul Wang, Singapore
Paul Wang’s passion for the arts blossomed from a very young age and he went on to study Interior Architecture and later Technical Theatre Design. With his multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory training, his sketches and paintings are bursting with dramatic colours, much like a stage set. Now he devotes his time as an art and design educator, actively sharing his passion for sketching.
Urban Sketching is now his unique way of encapsulating the urban landscape on paper and using sketches to tell stories. Many of his on-location sketches have been featured in local and international publications like the Moleskine Art Journal series and most recently the National Geographic Traveller magazine.
He is also an active Urban Sketchers blog correspondent and an advisory board member.
Activity 4: Wet and Wild with Textures
Location: National Library
Description
Texture is an important element of art and design. Drawings and paintings often employ visual texture to portray their subject matter. Knowing how to creatively use textures can powerfully convey a variety of messages and emotions in our sketches. Adding thoughtful coloured textures can certainly make our sketches come alive. This activity hopes to encourage sketchers to boldly experiment and create your own unique palette of interesting marks and textures on paper.
