Shop shutters along a street in Croydon were painted on Sunday as part of collaboration between the RISE Gallery and ‘Femme Fierce’, a collective of all female street artists. Having drawn the group at an event in the Leake Street (AKA the Banksy Tunnel) last year, I went along again to record the event. Urban sketchers are used to working in public but the idea of making work on this scale seems daunting to me – I don’t know if anyone has tried it? I drew in B&W but added some colour on Photoshop at home for my own blog post here.
The group are holding their next event on Sunday 8th March at the Leake Street tunnel which is very close to Waterloo Station in London and they were very welcoming to me. Come along and draw them if you are around but do wear a mask – there are a lot of fumes!
