Usually weeks before Christmas there’s snow cover and the temperatures stay below freezing until mid-March. Not this year. The pumpkins from the last farmers market in October are still on the pillars in our backyard garden—freezing, thawing, rotting, deflating. The lawn still has some green in it. In the morning, there’s fog. We’re waiting for snow.
