We then went to the square in front of the City Hall that we couldn't get to on Saturday because of the filming of a movie. On the right side is the (top of the) old Rissik St Post Office, built in 1897, abandoned, stripped of its brass, wooden fittings and historic clock and occupied by squatters in the '90s and ravaged by two fires in 2010, still sadly awaiting its promised restoration when someone comes up with the money.
In front is the (once again! - top of the) tall Barbican building, which has been beautifully restored by its insurance company owners, but still appears to be unoccupied, with the City Hall on my left, which I couldn't squeeze onto my page as I'd intended... I really need to get to some of those architecture workshops!
As we sat in this square, we had a constant stream of interested and very friendly onlookers coming to chat. Not to make this post too long, I related some of the rather bizarre conversations I had on my blog, if you're interested.
