This group of drawings spans a weird period of time for me: between the familiar laundry/upper F train views and doc office and lower F train sketches I got sick and pneumonia developed, sending me to the hospital. Still recovering, some weeks later. Not a single drawing in the hospital. That kind of says it all. So glad to be home!!
Brooklyn: the laundry toom: Having a laundry room is such a luxury. I never lived in a building that had one until I left Manhattan for Brooklyn 20 years ago. I still savor the convenience and the easy camaraderie with fellow neighbors.
Brooklyn: top of the world: F train: The Smith & 9th Street in Brooklyn is the highest in the NYC system (you can almost touch the sky with your hands). It's always a bit of a thrill when the train climbs out of the tunnel and finds daylight.
Manhattan: My husband Stephen reading with his Kindle at my doc's office. It's been a rough winter for us. Stephen has been doing a lot of waiting...and reading.
Back on the F train, Brooklyn: My first subway ride since getting out of the hospital. Feels weird and floaty but it's good to be back on the F train. Breathing on the F train, with care.
