Stolberg, Germany

I made a visit to an old town in Germany, just across the border from where I live in the Netherlands.

It’s located just south of Aachen, in the steep hills of the Eiffel region.

The old part of the town is hidden in a tiny valley, and a huge medieval castle is looming over it.

The top drawing is made from the streets downtown, looking up to the castle; the other is made from the castle, overlooking the roofs of the houses.

There was also a nice Weihnachtsmarkt around the castle, with christmas lights, stalls selling homemade products, glühwein, bratwurst and carousels for the children.

I wanted to catch that as well, but by then I was too cold and cramped to draw.
