A grand central plaza for downtown Fort Worth has been on the agenda of the city and its long time patron Ed Bass for 30 years. This morning at 9:30 am the newly completed plaza opened to crowds, music and much fanfare. Unlike many new urban public spaces built on "left over" or "found" sites, this one is square at the heart of the city's historic Sundance Square district. Designed with understated elegance by landscape architect Michael Vergason and shaped by new buildings that complement the district's historic fabric by architect David Schwarz, the plaza is, in this designer's view, a worthy addition to the grand plazas of the world. Well done, Fort Worth!
