A recent visit to the norther charm of Thailand brings back many happy memories. Friendly feels, good foods, lots of small, interesting shops and crafts, plenty of nature and villages to roam to, lots and lots of lovely temples and coffee shops. The last item alone will keep me there for longer than I intend to…
And that’s where I sit and sip and enjoy many pages of my sketchbook you see here…
The old city was contained within remaining part of city wall and well kept canals, forming a large square with shaded tree lined street and numerous small shops of all kind, including this coffee stall I used for this sketch.
Within the large square of the old city peppered with numerous wonderful northern style temples, very close in characters with those found in Laos. Ornate, gentle and many in teak woods.
Chiang Mai is known as centre of many crafts including textile, wood, silver etc. Many streets are lined with small boutique shops, one shown here is by the name of Baan Nussara (House of Nussara)
I was really struck by the unexpected internal feature of Baan Nussara..
Other pleasant, tasteful and unique interior of those shops.
culture, food and coffee make this old charming town, some 800 km north of Bangkok, a place to turn to every now and then. I am included:-)
Any one planned to visit Chiang Mai please let me know, I need all the reasons and excuses to make a trip there and another sketching trip sounds the best of all:-)
Cheers
