He came to Japan just when we celebrated 5th anniversary of USK. Think if there hadn't been USK I wouldn't have chance to meet a guy who has started world sketching tour almost two years ago. Luís Simões is a nice, open minded, easy going and of course talented sketcher. One day after traveling around mainland China, he suddenly came to Tokyo without any previous contact. He said in a email, like “ I'm here and will be stay for another couple of days. Can I meet and sketch together?” So we met on November 2nd. We went to a museum in Ueno. It was a bit rainy day. So meeting and spending time in a Museum was ideal. They exhibited ancient artifacts, sculpture, drawings, etc from around Asia. He was a bit reluctant but I insist to see it and it turned out to be amusing, at least to me. He explained to me things he learned through his journey whenever he found artifacts that are from counties he visited. It felt like I'm having special private lecture, a kind of one that could be given in USK symposium. Listening his story, thoughts, and sharing opinions each other is such a special thing and quite privilege. Since this day we had chance to meet three times. Each time when sketch together, often sat side by side, I gained new thoughts, idea, passion, ambition, confidence through him. This thing is contagious,( I'm not saying bad joke!) so influential.

Hoping to see you again somewhere in this globe sometime!
