Just when I thought there wasn't going to be much Halloween action in my hood - I had a newsletter this morning to say that the 7th annual Zombie Walk was going to take place not very far from home. I went to the meeting place at the entrance to the Westpark Cemetery and started sketching the undead as they arrived - some sporting sunglasses in the unaccustomed bright light of day.
Quite pleasant once you got to know them, they were raising funds for Marang House, a home for seriously ill children.
They stood around chatting and laughing until it was time to set off, when they resumed character and loped, dragged, limped and hobbled up the hill to their party destination. I drove ahead of the procession to get one more sketch of them coming around the side of the graveyard, to hoots and stares of passing traffic, before going home to a glass of white wine to steady my nerves! Happy Halloween!
