A couple weeks back, my son, his grandpa, and I jumped onto a fishing boat off the coast of Monterey. It's something the guys in our family enjoy doing together while the gals visit the local shops. I did a sketch the day before of our fishing poles, leaning there against some of the moving boxes that were soon to be moved to our new place. My father-in-law suggested I take my sketchbook along on the trip, thinking I could sketch some of the guys fishing. Of course, once we got the lines in the water, it was all business, and my sketchbook didn't come out again until the deck hand began cleaning the fish. All in all, we each hit our limit, bringing home enough rock cod for several dinners.
