In a town, I like to draw contrasts. Buildings from different ages have a different look. In a drawing, with the stroke, with the colour, you can emphazise the contrasts. In Liège, where I live, new urbanistic regulations, in the sixties, have permitted to build higher. Many beautiful old houses from the XIXth Century were destoyed and replaced with new apartments.

Very impressive drawings Gerard. The story of Liege is for sure the same all around the old continent. Thank god there are some beautiful buildings surviving, even between tall blocks, to tell the story.

Even dreary buildings look terrific in your drawing style.
