Tia Boon Sim Fan Art

Centaur Theatre has just announced their 45th Season of plays. As part of this seasons theme "Centaur Plays in Color" I was invited to do a colorful drawing of the theater's home in the old Montreal Stock Exchange.

This was breaking new ground for me. It's not something I've ever allowed myself - to go completely wild with the color. I have to say it's a lot of fun :) I took my inspiration from fellow UrbanSketchers.org artist Tia Boon Sim.

Of course, mine is a somewhat stiff imitation of her freedom and energy - but this is the kind of learning from other artists work that makes USK so rewarding.

Awesome Marc! The colors work really well. But then again, I love your usual palette too.

Love the composition here. It has such a heavy feeling, as it should; and the colors are outstanding! Gorgeous pallette.

Ha! Yes Tia - you are right! I see how hard it is to let it all go :) But it will be fun getting used to it!

So true that one of the great things about USk is the inspiration from our fellow artists, and Tia is always inspiring (as are you!). Part of what makes those bold colors exciting is that terrific fish-eye perspective!
