Planes, Boats, and Buildings

Spring has kind of sprung and I was determined to spend some time outdoors sketching.
I thought I'd try the harbour for inspiration - I came to a view I love, the Harbour Air seaplane port with a tall ship and the Parliment buildings as a backdrop. Maybe it's because I'm antsy to do some travel, to wander in new places, soar above the everyday...
And it was straight pencil this time just to change things up.

Great sketch! I took the Victoria-Vancouver harbour flight once, it was great and quick. Leaving around 8:30 a.m., back at my desk in Vancouver by 10:00 a.m.

Thanks Tommy and Sigrid.
Sigrid, yes the flight is quick and convenient, even fun in clear weather.
I'm told that the really cool ride is the helijet, but hey, I'm no high roller!

Lovely sketch Matthew. Thank you.

I live in Victoria and have just started urban sketching. I feel so overwhelmed by how much there is to draw in the inner harbour and yet... here you've done it! I had better get off my butt and give it another try!

Thanks Faye.
I know what you mean about being visually overwhelmed, finding the subject you want to draw is half the battle.
Good luck with the sketching.
