First Page of a New Book

Just bought myself a new, tiny sketchbook - handy for popping into a little handbag, ready to capture those unpredictable moments. First page was filled on Saturday during a pub-lunch, while John was queueing at the bar.

Poor doggy: he mostly looked depressed at the inevitability of getting no scraps, then, each time someone new passed by, would looked up expectantly, before more disappointment. It's a dog's life!

It's certainly a convincing sketch because I immediatly felt sorrow for the dog and hoped someone gave him something to eat

I really like how the sad, then hopeful, dog is on the same page as the "please return lost book" data.

I think you're very brave to start a new sketchbook with such a difficult subject - I tend to start 2 or 3 pages in - just in case I botch it!

This is such an expressive sketch. Poor pup. I just got this sketchbook, too. I think I like it.

Cheers guys. I can rarely resist dogs in pubs. Their faces are always so expressive!
