davis block by block...

2nd & C, Davis
Davis CA: I am slowly getting through the whole of this town. Now I am starting to check each block and say, have I completed this one? If I draw each building I can join it all together and have a big sketchbook version of Davis where I am the mayor, mwahahaha, ahem. I sketched this block recently over a few lunchtimes, this is 2nd Street between C and D, north side. The buidling above and the building below are both offices of a real estate agent.

The building below is Odd Fellows Hall. This is some sort of performance venue I believe, though what is so odd about the fellows I am not sure. Anyway this now completes this side of the block. We have such nice weather here in Davis that lunchtime sketching in the 'winter' months is bright, sunny, not too cold and mostly leafless. Those leafless trees give great shadows.

Oh,that clear California light, casting such wonderful shadows!I love your tree shadows, especially the middle building with the warm colors.
You would make a great Mayor!

The light is great in the winter time here. Tell you what, if I were Mayor I would insist on street lights in north Davis, it's so dark at night!
