City by train and walking

We are blessed with a car so we drove everyday to work instead of taking the public transport. But it would be nice to break the routine and take the train for once. So my wife and myself did just that this weekend on Saturday. It was hot and the sun was beating down on the streets on everyone, but the trains and the subways are cooling to be in. The journey therefore was comfortable and there was no worry to find parking spots and driving through tolls. I did some sketches on the train while standing in the cabin.

The first station we got out has a connected mall and we ate at McDonalds. We got back in the train again and alighted at Little India Station, from where we walked towards an new art supply store located just about a short distance away. Then we continued our journey to an Arts College where we stumbled on a make shift fruits stall. That's where I made another sketch.

After which we walked to another mall and had lunch. We ate in a restaurant named "Granny's Secret" and sat by the windows overlooking a huge construction site of another up and coming subway which would make the people living in the north very happy in the future.

In general the public transport in Singapore is really convenient and comfortable. If you are not in the rush hours of course.
Singapore is always changing and has been changing and growing since 40 years ago. As a young nation, change is good. But the pertinent question is, is everyone catching up with the change and the growth. Recently there was an activity by a social service that brought the silver haired around in Chinatown just to arouse their memory of the past and how they have lived before Singapore became what she is now. They have no recollection of anything at all. Dementia? No. It's just that nothing's the same. The authority preserved the buildings but the soul of the location is absent.

Hi, Im Carlos Ramirez from Peru. Im starting to make urban sketches and I enjoy the work of people like you but i have a question. How many time you spend to make a draw like this?

Excellent sketches Don, you manage to inject so much character into each one. Maybe you should take the public transport more often?
