Back from India

After a month in India I am back in cold Berlin. I though I had managed to escape winter but it was waiting me home. A few days later I arrived it start snowing again.

India is fantastic place for sketching. People treat you with a lot of respect. They love to get drawn and they are always taking pictures of you.  Every way you watch you see something to draw, so it is not surprise that i filled tree books, and made more that 100 drawings. Here just a few:

Taking a Rickshaw
Taking a rickshaw is a big adventure. It was long ride. Of course everything moves. I started applying a system to draw, based on single points on the paper. In some stops I would connect the points to draw the lines. Check the drivers face and mine on the mirrors.
Meeting new friends
Bangalore:
When I travel I like to meet other sketchers. Here is Prabha from Bangalore. (the one in the left) We met at Kochy's, a very popular Cafe in the city.
I also met Sanjeev Joshi when I visited in Pune. I will post some pictures with him later. I have to say that the Indian hospitality is amazing. Thanks Prabha and Sanjeev for make me feel at home.
Old man in the market
Mysore Market
A watercolor in one of the new big hardbound 270 gsm Sketchbooks from Stillman & Birn.
The white Cat

Mysore Market:
What captivated me to paint this scene was the white cat on the left. The old guy  had some white powder on his forehead. A sign of his religion.

Of course there are more drawings. You can follow them in my blog  I will continue posting there in the next days.
