Amsterdam, the Rokin

Amsterdam, Rokin
This is a sketch of Amsterdam, on the Rokin, near the starting point of the canal cruises "Rondvaart Kooij". For those not too familiar with Amsterdam, the alley behind the bridge leads towards the red light district. I guess I have your attention now....
But to reassure you, I visited Amsterdam for the reopened museum of  modern art: "stedelijk museum".
It was quite nice weather, fresh but not too cold. So it was no ordeal to stand in the weak and watery sun at the canal's edge to draw and paint this.
And another nice surprise: I discovered the "art of Urban Sketching" book on the bookshelves of one the bookstores in the center of town.

What lovely detail. I wish I had the discipline or urge to fill every inch of paper with color.

Nice view, I like the palette. I really want to go back to Amsterdam some time, I think I would go crazy sketching there though, beautiful place.

Thanks Charlie, keep practicing and you'll get there.
Thanks Pete, it's a feat for the eyes every time. But so are a lot of other places.
Thanks Holly.
