This is a small museum on the outskirts of Henderson, NV, near Las Vegas. We drove over the mountains from CA to visit my sister.

Our favorite motel in Henderson...this time our room overlooked the courtyard between the hotel and the little casino behind it. I've drawn this courtyard many times, now!

Heading back to California on the 15, I sketched from the car and from a rest stop...
Gorgeous desert and very pleasant to sketch it in January...

Wonderful watercolor as always. Just the right amount of detail to depict the scene. Beautiful to view.
Beautiful! What materials did you use?
My you were prolific, Cathy, on this trip! Interesting to see the last picture on site and then the scanned version above. The color of the paper is so different.
Thanks all! Yes, desert light seems to make a big difference! This is one of the new journals I bound with a variety of papers, experimenting. Some Stonehenge, some Niddegan, some Strathmore's new Multi-Media paper. Beamish, I used several different fountain pens, and then the middle sketch was a Micron Pigma .01, with watercolor.
These are beautiful- I love the fine ink lines- they are so calligraphic~(and splatters) and watercolor.
Thank you, memi, I think I was most pleased with that one.
Wonderful Kate!
Thanks, Shari, I sketched a LOT this trip--over 30 pages.
I love the S.W. look of the Hawthorne Inn sketch. Delightful.
Lois, it's a very nice place to stay! Quiet and clean.
These are wonderful--you've caught the desert light and color so beautifully!
Thank you, Virginia! I seem to remember some of your highway sketches, fun!
Wonderful catch of weather and nature!
