Daler-Rowney, the famous brand of art supplies, happens to have its factory at the Free Zone in La Romana, Dominican Republic. I just found out about it this past January when I took a two weeks drawing class with USk Correspondent Melanie Reim, at Altos de Chavón/The School of Design, my "alma mater" and beloved art school, (what an awesome experience Mel, thanks!!!).
The factory donated sketchbooks for the class and opened its doors to us so we could draw their staff at work. Last thing I would had imagine is that their factory was in Dominican ground. Why am I usually the last one to find out about these things? Go figure!

These are terific Orling! I really like the top one - very bold and effective story telling.
So interesting, Orling. Great reportage and lively, loose sketches. I've been looking forward to your next USK correspondent post.
Fantastic drawing Orling, love the strong lines and varying weights.
