Out and About--Independence, MO

I'd been wanting to sketch the old waterworks in the town I grew up in for ages--it's now their Community Center.  The original spring is just down the hill and to the left.  We parked in an awkward place, off the street and in the grass, so I worked FAST and added color from memory.
You can see more from my week's sketches on our Urban Sketchers Midwest blog.

I always love to see a "Palace of Water".
I worked on restoring an art deco treasure in Toronto and have been yearning to go back and sketch it.
This has a real grace about it - wonderful sketch.

So beautiful! I especially love your keen eye of capturing just right color for each ambience, and material. Something I want to achieve..

A wonderful sketch - and you say it was quickly done!

Thanks all! Carol, the basic ink sketch was done quickly (we were parked VERY illegally, I'll bet!), so I added color when it was safer. (Also more of that tangle of tree branches!)
