... over Xmas and New Year was totally amazing!!!! Of course we all know how inspiring the USKSGgroup looks from afar - Tia, Don and Paul and everyone else...but in real life it is even more so!
I was looked after so well and Singapore is an amazing city to sketch in - sure hot-ish and humid (but a lot more bearable than Santo Domingo was) and it was in the middle of the Monsoon season but of course that didn't stop me sketching a lot....so visually rich and colourful! And I can't do a post without mentioning that the food was GREAT too!!!!
My plan for this trip was not to go crazy and sketch non stop... but even though I did slow down (compared to some of my other sketching trips) and spend some relaxing time in cafes (as per Paul's earlier post) I still managed to fill over 2 A4 size watercolour moleskines. I do have a few unfinished pages and maps to draw and of course a lot of scanning!!!!

I am scanning and doing detailed day by day posts on my blog and flickr if you want to start to follow them as I put them up...but here are the first full days sketches. Tia organised an adhoc sketchwalk to welcome me on my first day. I wasn't quite in the groove with my sketching yet but it was such an inspiring day.

Group photo thanks to Parka - the full set of his photos are here

As you can see from Parka's great video.

Of course I sketched in the afternoon as well - sheltering from a storm in the library...

You will find that as I progress through the sketchbooks, I try some new things and my work starts changing. Everytime I go on a sketching trip, it is an art journey as well. I think this particular time it was rather significant.
