“I’m an Artist-Teacher born and raised in Dominican Republic. I was first introduce to sketching outdoors and reportage drawing while studying at Parsons in New York back in 1994, giving me the opportunity to get to know the city that hosted me for four years even better.
Back to Santo Domingo, sketching became a solitary activity as I didn’t know anyone in the city with the same habit. In 2010, I came across the websites SketchCrawl.com and UrbanSketchers.org and I was delighted to find people who loved to draw and shared their drawings online. Within days I posted a Facebook event promoting the 1st Drawing Marathon in Santo Domingo and in July of the same year I was visiting Portland to attend the first symposium. One thing let to the other and this past summer I was very happy to host the 3rd USk Symposium in Santo Domingo. What an awesome and inspirational experience!
Runners call it “the runner’s high”, I call it “the Sketcher’s High”, that “feeling of euphoria” gotten from an entire day sketching outdoors, and it’s precisely the feeling I get from urban sketching, even more when accompanied by fellow USk’ers.
I’m humbly honor to be here and share my sketches with you… looking forward to what’s coming ahead!”
