A backdrop of hills

A few weeks ago I drove through northern Vermont and although I sketched quickly from the road there was no time to explore the towns off the main highway. This weekend I had a chance to stop in Montgomery Center, near the Jay Peak ski area. Although we've had some giant snowfalls in the past few weeks there is a big thaw happening now which made the skiing time lousy but the sketching time perfect.

These are really beautiful sketches...great sense of the snow and bare trees with the hills beyond.

Your watercolors reflect beautifully the pristine quality of northern Vermont in the winter.

These are gorgeous! The shadows and the composition are just so pleasing to the eye. I like your museum story too. When I was teaching 3rd grade I found excuses for drawing sessions every chance I could. The kids love that and it's so good for their development in so many ways!
