“Hi, i’m Jenny. I’m an Industrial designer and Illustrator originally from Göttingen, Germany.
I’m honored and flattered to become a correspondent for Urban Sketchers. I guess i’ve always drawn but focused more on location drawing for the past few years. I really became obsessed with it when i was studying in Barcelona on an Erasmus scholarship in 2010, and met all those amazingly talented people like Lapin, Swasky, EclecticBox, Sagar and many more. They are the guys who organise next year’s symposium- so I’m definitely not going to miss that.
About my drawings- I don’t have a specific style or tools that i always use. Probably because i can’t walk past an art supply store without getting something- anything really. Trying out new stuff is maybe my style.
My sketchbooks have become my visual diary. The drawings in them evoke vivid memories for me that could not have been captured by camera. I try to draw my very personal perspective on a place or a situation, often focusing on details and composition. It’s so interesting when a bunch of people are drawing the same subject and all the drawings come out completely different, each one with its own focus and beauty. When i draw, i study things more closely, i simply see and discover more. To me, that is what’s great about sketching.”
