Since Middle Ages Bologna had a network of canals that served hundreds of mills and that made the industrial fortune of the town. Covered in the fifties, nowadays they are only visible in a few spots. In this now dirty water, laundresses had washed clothes untill maybe sixty years ago. I recently went with my son to sketch the "Moline" (mills) canal and in Santo Stefano square, from where you can see our famous Asinelli highest city tower.
