Drawing Praise

As an art professor, I'm expected to have something critical to say to all of my students, all of the time. But occasionally, I'm struck speechless.

Last Summer, my course in Italy had an unprecedented number of excellent young talents enrolled. But, I'd be remiss if I didn't publish for a wider audience, some of the work of Liz Wikstrom. Remember the name. Liz is currently a senior at Rhode Island School of Design and she reminds me that art teachers should honor the Hippocratic Oath, as doctors do. We should vow to: "Do no harm" by telling to students like Liz, "Keep doing what you're doing!" She's an Urban Sketcher of the highest order.

Fine work - I'm reminded of the great Arthur Guptill and his mastery of texture, shade and shadow.

Amazing work. And I love that oath - do no harm. It´s a wise one. I´m gonna stick to that as a teacher. : )

Liz's work has a wonderful sense of place, which is a completely different and difficult aspect to master in comparison to likeness. Thank you for sharing her work.
