I came across LIKAY unexpectedly just a few day ago on the way home. Its all out, full blown, unmistakable musical tune announce the unavoidable presence of its out-door, open air stage that occupy the entire width of a short dead end street by the Cho Phraya river (I seem to get a lot of involvement with the river recently) I walk around to the front and the full sight of its extremely lit up stage with all the decorative and color took over me, as expected!! With no hesitation, I planted myself on a wooden barrier right in the middle of the road that gave me a first class support for the sketch and I brought myself back to the long lost childhood experience of joy and memory in tandem with each lines on the sketch pad.
The coloring was done immediately after I got back home accompanied by some traditional Thai music I had not played for years.

Inspiring!! Love how you treat the lights and shadows! Great story too!!
Achieved very evening light in contrast to the light show. Congratulations on this picture. Best regards.
Love a good sketch acompanied with a interesting story. Thanks.
Congrats, Asnee! The effect of magic is perfectly achieved with color, light and shade. However, it is sad such interesting tradition is disappearing...
this is phenominal.. i cant stop staring at it.
thank you don, it was the story in my mind that moved me through those lights and shadows:-)
thank you Julian, Hanna, Luis and Genine for your kind comments. If I should get better and better at painting lights, you might have to view my next painting with your sun glasses on...no, it won't be so soon
..and yes, Luis, it's a shame but hopefully with better education and support from all concerned, such roots and tradition should find its way to live through time..
This is a favorite among many of your works that are favorites of mine. Amazing.
