1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. We support each other and draw together.
7. We share our drawings online.
8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
The Urban Sketchers logo was created by Italian graphic designer Franco Lancio.

Nice!
Love the sketch, and I like the photograph which shows the sketchbook too.
I love those depression era art deco buildings. My hometown of London, Ontario has a jewel of a post office building in this style.
Why is it called the "hall of waters" too?
Oh, lovely, I'd love to see it, Matthew!
We're a mineral water town, with more naturally occurring mineral waters than anyplace else on earth but Baden-Baden! (Do I sound like a tour guide?)
They used to dispense the waters in the "water bar," give spa treatments, mud baths, massage, even a precursor of the Jacuzzi. They were still doing that till recently--I got to go have the whole spa treatment a few years ago!
They still sell our main mineral water there, along with others from around the world...but they're bottled rather than "draft."
This is such a beautiful work and what a interesting story about Mayan ruins as well as mineral water!
Thank you, Kumi! I guess after the ruins were discovered in the early part of the 20th C. (in Mexico, mostly?) the style really caught on! Lots of buildings and such inspired by it...
lovely capture, kate and love the mineral water story:-)
we have a lot of buildings in bangkok in more or less the same character as this. i must find opportunity to sketch them indeed, thanks for the inspiration, kate.
Thank you, Asnee, you KNOW I love your work, can't wait to see what you do with these buildings!
This is beautiful! I like the building, and I love your sketch!
Thanks, it's a wonderful building! I've sketched it in and out, many times.
