Venice, bike and tomatoes

Venezia

I spent a nice afternoon in Venice with Lapin. We met AleDima, a sculptor that works with life castings. He let us draw from his terrace where, coming back from Holland, he keeps his bike and grows tomatoes. The view was great but I didn't draw a panorama.

Venezia

I have studied and lived in Venice for ten years and when I come back there, I got so overwhelmed by memories that find it difficult to draw.

I love these very personal drawings, and can well imagine the feeling of being overwhelmed in that beautiful city!

I like these drawings - very different to the classic tourists view of Venice. Is cycling popular in Venice - perhaps a kayak might be more efficient?

Thanks! @Murray: right, cycling it's impossible in Venice! That's why this bike at the fourth floor (no elevators in Venice, only narrow old staircases) in the middle of Venice is a bit surreal. Of course "sandalo" boats are more efficents, as the one Lapin drawned, where you can paddle standing up. But there are so many waves for the senseless cruise ships passing by in "Canale della Giudecca", that I'll be really scared of kayaking.

Hi Simo, I thought you might say something like that, I was being a bit cheeky with my comment! I'm amazed that they send cruise ships down Canale della Giudecca though. It really must be terrifying for kayakers!
