School Concert

I was painting a backdrop for the local primary school's annual concert last week and took a short break to sketch some of the children who had come into the hall to practice. Lots of very active little people! I'm thinking I'll go to one or two dress rehearsels and draw some more in a couple of weeks.

That's a fantastic sketch. I love the way you've captured all the children's motion and emotion. How long did it take to do? The composition is lovely.

Thanks Sue, Marina and Liz - Sue I think the lines took about 15 minutes, lots of looking, with quick scribbles in between to catch the different postures - I added colour later very quickly.

Nice movement and expressions. Children are so difficult to capture in action as I discovered recently trying to draw my daughters netball match.
