Moleskine kindly provided participants of the 1st International Urban Sketching Symposium with a limited edition sketchbook featuring the Urban Sketchers logo embedded on the cover and an insert about our global community (see Drawing Attention, June 28.)
The three-day international event, which took place in Portland, Oregon, in late July, was hosted by Pacific Northwest College of Art and gathered nearly 100 sketchers from across the United States and from countries as far as Australia, Singapore, Japan, Mauritania, Dominican Republic, Belgium, Spain and Italy.
The Japanese-fold Moleskine sketchbook meant 3 meters of fun for blog correspondent Gérard Michel and many other participants who filled the accordion with urban sketches of Portland’s bridges, squares, fountains, food carts and more.
If you’d like to emulate Gérard or get one for a sketcher friend, we have a limited supply of sketchbooks that we are offering in exchange for a minimum donation of $25 to our nonprofit (we’ll cover shipping to any country).
To secure your sketchbook, click on the ‘Donate’ button on the right sidebar. Be sure to include your mailing address and allow for 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. The funds we raise will help provide a scholarship for the next Symposium, something we didn’t manage to pull off in time for Portland.
Blog correspondent Gérard Michel travelled from Liége, Belgium, to participate in the three-day event.
Participants displayed their Moleskines during the closing reception.
Read feedback from participants and see more sketches and photos from the event on the Symposium’s blog and flickr group.
