Meet the correspondents: TORONTO > Eugene Zhilinsky and Tatyana Sasha Yuditskaya

“We are Tatyana and Eugene, a Russian born artist and architect couple living in Toronto.

We met in Jerusalem, Israel, where we were working at the time on independent art projects. In little more than three years after creating “Editions Tchai” we have published 12 titles in English, French and Russian.

Those small run editions include illustrated classic literature, independent graphic novels, and anthology of memoirs, dedicated to the history of classic art education in Russia and carnets de voyages. Our latest project, “Toronto Graffiti,” was presented at the 9th International Biennale of Carnets de Voyage in the City of Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne, France.)

Probably because living in an urban environment it’s a same kind of adventure as traveling to exotic places. As long as we live in a certain place we document our life and draw a stories about it. So sketching in a sketchbook turns out as writing a traveler journal somewhere in a Caribbean Island.

Lately photos usually get dumped out in all kind of storages but sketchbook pages are always begging to be browsed again and again. It’s magic.”
