“I am an architect by profession and based in City of Pune, Maharashtra state, India. Pune has a population of 3 million people! The city has a beautiful mix of old and new. The British colonial buildings stand next to modern glass facade buildings. Cars and bulluck carts are seen at the same time. So, when I sketch, I do both urban and kind of rural stuff in an urban setting.
I am passionate about sketching as I believe that only when one puts pen on paper, the real observation starts. On tours or outside travels, I don’t photograph much, but sketch a lot. I do direct watercolour sketches, carrying just two shades of paint and a small palette.
I also carry my sketchbooks to wherever I go and do pen sketches, I find it convenient to do ink pen sketches. I have many sketchbooks specially bound for this purpose.
Apart from urban sketching, I do practise portrait, watercolour paintings on larger scale, and I enjoy doing calligraphy too!
I have travelled to Asian countries, Far East, Middle East and Europe. My next visit is in May to Bhutan, for painting only!”
