"I hail from Rochester NY, but have spent the last few years living outside of Washington DC, where I have been teaching art to fantastic kids at a fantastic elementary school.
My desire to start urban sketching began with a trip to Stockholm visiting family. The city demanded some attention portraying its beauty in pencil and ink which I was happy to provide. Fortunately the drawing bug stuck as I have been putting DC to paper (or more often cardboard) with the same interest I found in Sweden.
Making these urban sketches has become both an act of meditation and exploration for me. It helps me seek out and discover new parts of this city I call home, as well as focus on spaces and places I may have never paid attention to otherwise.
DC has an abundance of grand recognizable architecture, and hopefully I can bring some attention to some of the smaller and equally beautiful character of this city as well."

Welcome to Urban sketchers! I checked out your work the other day, and I´m in awe. Your works on cardboard knocked my socks off! Lots of inspiration there...
I´m looking forward to seeing your posts!
Welcome. Very nice drawing.
Wish I was in your class Mr. Tribastone. These are so cool - wicked drawings. your blog is wicked also, looking forward to more.
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I feel I am in fantastic company with this community. I am very excited to start contributing to the site.
I love your distinctive style! And as I'm currently living in DC, I'm looking forward to getting a new perspective on familiar (and new) places around the city. I love it here and I'm always glad when other people do, too.
Ah, a fellow Rochestarian! I'll look at your blog after Finals but that image on your first post is wonderful! What a great tone from the cardboard. Why/how did you pick cardboard? Does it take the white better than paper?
I think I started working on cardboard because it was less intimidating than canvas. I ended up loving the aesthetics of working on it. It's neutral tone, reusing a material, an added layer of history to the piece as an object, and often there is a graphic element on the paper bag or cardboard that creates an interesting play with the drawing. Basically I just like how it looks!
Love your work and can't wait for all your blogs!
