The Agony and The Ecstasy (thanks Tommy)

Here are a bunch of typical England football fans in a bar in Brooklyn called Floyds. They are watching England crash out of the World Cup 2006 to Portugal on penalties, any England fan will be able to relate to these scenes, any sports fan for that matter. I didn't watch another England game for two years after this. I want to thank Tommy Kane for teaching us how to post larger scale drawings, I posted these two to see if I could get that to work. Cheers Tommy.

I can't thank you enough for telling us how to do this. I've also pre-ordered "An Illustrated Life", Dec 8th, can't wait. Thanks again.

WOW... These are so wonderful... You captures so much emotion on all of those faces. Good grief, I so wish someday I could get close to your skill....

amazing drawings! unbelievable the way you've captured it.
portugal knocked england out of the 2006 world cup on penalties, and also euro 2004; but it was brazil that knocked us out in 2002 (ronaldinho lobbing david seaman).

these are amazing Stephen, you captured the before and after moments perfectly.

is it just me who sees these images blurry, then when you click on them and get the original size they are sharper? that doesn't happen when i link my images to Flickr

Thanks Pete, I've changed the post, of course it was 2006, how could I forget. The bottom drawing is the moment Hargreaves converted England's only penalty.

Marian, thanks so much for your comment, I hope you'll keep coming back.

Gabi you are right, I need to get on to the Urban Sketchers Flickr account, I keep meaning to.

hey Stephen, all I'm saying is that these fantastic sketches are not displaying as sharp as they really are —you can tell the difference just by clicking on them. that's because these were uploaded directly to Blogger, not Photobucket —what Tommy uses— or Flickr. There seems to be a glitch with Blogger that, even if you modify width and height as Tommy explained, makes the images blurry. i'm going to post the instructions to link to Flickr on the google group in case you want to check them out

now back to the post topic, i'm glad there are some soccer fans out here! (hi Pete!) i can't wait for the next World Cup!

Thanks for commenting, I think urban sketchers should have quite the football following with it's strong European influence. Spain are the country to watch right now.

Izys, thanks for your kind words.

Sharon, I think that crowd was there at about 10am such is the life of football fan in America.
